What an incredible election we have had. Huge thanks to all of you for helping to make it happen .
All results in England and Wales have now been declared, To round-up, a few facts and figures that the elections buffs among you might find interesting…
Total votes
- We gained over 1.8million votes across England and Wales, around 7.2% of the vote
- This is a new record high and smashes our previous record of 1.1m and 3.8% in 2015
- This is a 1million increase on our total vote in 2019
- Our vote was so high we have hit the upper limit on Short Money funding for a group of 4 MPs!
- We got over 20% of the vote in 15 seats, and over 10% in 97 seats
Urban or rural – our vote increased everywhere
- In rural areas our average vote share increased by 2.8 percentage points
- And in urban seats our average uplift was a whopping 5.8 percentage points!
Top 3 finishes
- We finished 2nd in 40 constituencies (in every case Labour won – although one seat was the Speaker’s)
- In London we finished 2nd in a quarter of the seats, and we were in the top 3 in about half of seats
- We got a 1st or 2nd-place finish in every region of England and Wales, with the unfortunate exception of North East (who nevertheless, did have some brilliant results!)
- We finished 3rd in a further 42 constituencies
Deposits
- We saved an amazing 358 deposits (compared to a previous record of 123 in 2015)
- That’s £179,000 coming back to local party bank accounts ready for the county elections coming up!
- London managed to save 91% of their deposits! Every other region and Wales was somewhere around the 50%-75% mark
- Our colleagues in Scotland also did well, saving 12 deposits (esp Edinburgh and Glasgow where they polled 10% in a number of seats)
Head to Heads
- There were 6 seats where we beat Labour (the 4 target wins, plus Isle of Wight East and Cheltenham)
- We beat the Tories and Reform in 65 and 75 seats

- We beat the Tories and Reform in 65 and 75 seats respectively – that’s about 11% and 14% of seats
- We were neck and neck with the Lib Dems – we beat them in 284 seats, and they beat us in 288
- We beat George Galloway’s Workers Party in around 90% of the seats they stood
